Car and coach parking
Visitors travelling to the Engine Shed by car and coach can use the public car park approximately 350m away for a small charge. There are 20+ accessible parking bays available and electric charging points.
Additionally, facing the Engine Shed’s entrance there are two parking spaces offering free parking for Blue Badge holders. These can be located on the road running parallel to the railway line.
Approach to site
The Engine Shed is 350m from Forthside car park close to Vue and Frankie & Bennys, along tarmac paths with some raised kerbs.
Visitors arriving from Stirling train station should turn left on exiting the station and cross a bridge that has a lift at either end to allow step-free access. The route to the Engine Shed is then about 150m long on level pavements with dropped kerb crossings.
The Engine Shed entrance and its interior are on the level. There is an induction loop in the reception area and theatre.
There is a fully accessible toilet near to the reception area.

Stirling train station is 150m from the Engine Shed. Step-free access to the bridge that crosses the railway tracks is provided by a lift at either end.
Stirling is about 35 minutes from Glasgow (Queen Street Station) and 50 minutes Edinburgh (Haymarket and Waverley stations) with three direct services an hour from Glasgow and two from Edinburgh. There are also direct services to London, Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness. The Railway station is located 2 minutes walk from the city centre.
Edinburgh Airport – If flying to Scotland for the conference, it is recommended that you fly in to Edinburgh Airport. You can then take the tram to Edinburgh Park Station and swap to a direct train to Stirling from there. Trams operate every 7 minutes from the airport and train times can be found at travelinescotland.com This will take around an hour.
Glasgow Airport – a quarter hourly bus service taking around 25 mins leaves from outside the terminal and stops at Buchanan Street Bus Station for direct services to Stirling. Queen Street Railway Station is a five minute walk.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport – a half hour train service (hourly on Sundays) runs to Glasgow Central Station 06.00-23.08. The journey time is 45 mins. Queen Street Station, the terminus for Stirling trains is less than a ten minute walk. A free shuttle bus also links the two stations every ten minutes.
Stirling bus station is 260m from the Engine Shed, on the other side of the railway tracks. Access is via a bridge that has a lift at either end.
There is an hourly non-stop coach service from Glasgow and Edinburgh, taking 40 minutes and 1 hour respectively, as well as regular bus services to the Scottish cities and towns like St Andrews and Perth. The modern bus station which has a café and left luggage lockers is open Mon-Sat 06.30-22.00 Sun 10.00-18.00.

There is no visitor parking at the Engine Shed, but car drivers can use the public car park 350m away for a small charge (£1,50 for a full day). The Forthside car park has more than 20 accessible parking bays and electric charging points. For blue badge holders, there are two accessible spaces at the front of the building (55m to the main door) by the road that runs parallel to the train station.
